Spongi is made by Jesse de Jonge in the Netherlands. This page explains what the app stores, why, and who else handles it. Questions: support@spongi.app.
What we store
- Your account: your name, email address and password (hashed), or the account ID from Sign in with Apple or Google.
- Your household: its name, members, rooms, chores, due dates, who did what and when, thanks, points and trophies.
- Settings: your time zone, notification preferences and a push token so we can send you reminders.
- Premium status: whether your household has an active subscription.
The app doesn’t collect analytics, advertising IDs, device information, log data or crash reports.
Why
Only to run Spongi: keep your household in sync, send reminders and recaps, check Premium and answer support emails. We don’t sell your data, show ads or send marketing email.
Who can see it
Everyone in your household sees the household’s chores, activity, points and trophies, and the names of the other members. Nobody outside your household does.
Who processes it for us
- Our own server in the EU stores everything listed above.
- RevenueCat handles purchases and subscription status.
- Apple delivers push notifications and Sign in with Apple, and handles payments.
- Google handles Sign in with Google, if you choose it.
- Resend sends transactional email, such as password reset links.
- OpenRouter and Anthropic (Claude) run the Premium Fair share analysis. Only when you tap Analyze, we send your chore names, room names and which anonymous member (“Member 1”, “Member 2”) each chore belongs to. No names, emails or other personal data are sent.
Some of these companies are based outside the EU. Where data leaves the EU, it’s covered by the safeguards the GDPR requires, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. When you delete your account in Settings, your profile, points and trophies are deleted. A household you own passes to the member who has been in it longest, or is deleted if you were the only member.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email support@spongi.app. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Children
Children under 16 may use Spongi only with permission from a parent or guardian, as a member of a household that parent manages. By inviting your child, you give that permission.
- Same data as anyone: what’s listed above, nothing more.
- No ads, no tracking: the app shows no ads and collects no analytics or advertising IDs.
- Only the household: your child sees and is seen by their own household, nobody else.
- You stay in control: remove your child from the household in Settings at any time. To delete their account, email support@spongi.app from your own Spongi account’s email address and we’ll delete it within 30 days.
If we find out a child under 16 uses Spongi without a parent’s permission, we delete the account.
This website
spongi.app uses Umami to count page views and a few clicks, such as taps on the App Store button. We host it ourselves on a server in the EU, so the data isn’t shared with anyone else.
- No cookies and no tracking across other websites, so there is no cookie banner.
- What it records: the page, the referring website, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and approximate location (country, region, city). Your IP address is used for that lookup and is not stored.
- What it leaves out: URL query parameters, so invite codes and password reset links never reach it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what we share or with whom, we’ll let you know before it takes effect.
