Spongi

Stop keeping score.

Spongi is the chore app for people who share a home. It reminds whoever’s turn it is, gives points for effort and turns the week into one shared goal instead of a contest.

Spongi’s Household tab: each person’s share of this week’s chores

Nobody has to be the nag.

Add your rooms and chores once. Repeating chores come back on their own. One-offs like “call the plumber” get a due date if you want one, and a chore without a name on it is up for grabs. Spongi reminds whoever’s turn it is. Not needed this week? Skip it.

Spongi’s Chores tab with today’s chores

One goal for the whole house.

Every chore earns points for effort: a quick job 1, a regular chore 2, a big job 3. Together you work toward one weekly goal. Reach 80% and the streak grows. Every four good weeks earn a spare sponge that covers one off week.

  1. Monday 08:00

The recap: how far the house got, the streak, who covered for whom. No winner.

  2. Any day

Dishes done. +2, and the house goal moves.

  3. Thanks

Someone took the bins out? Tap Thanks in the activity feed. It beats “finally”.

  4. Sunday

80% or more: clean week, streak +1.

Fair, not 50/50.

Taking out the bin and planning the week aren’t the same chore. Points already weigh effort, and every week shows who did which share. With Premium you agree on your own split, like 60/40 when one of you works longer hours, and Fair share counts the thinking work too.

This week vs your agreed 40/60

Sam 42% Noor 58%

Thinking work (Fair share)

Sam 28% Noor 72%

Your numbers come from the chores you actually tick off.

A Shameboard for late chores, not people.

Turn it on and overdue chores line up: “Bins · 2 days late · Tom”. The moment anyone does it, it’s gone. Nobody late? “Suspicious.”

Before you install

Does everyone need an iPhone?

Yes, for now. Spongi is an iPhone app, so everyone who ticks off chores needs one. There is no Android version yet.

Is Spongi free?

Yes, for a household of two: rooms, repeating and one-off chores, reminders, effort points, the weekly goal and streak, Thanks and the Monday recap. Premium adds more members, rotation, your own agreed split, the Shameboard, Fair share and chore suggestions.

Does everyone have to pay for Premium?

No. One subscription covers the whole household. Everyone who joins gets Premium too.

Isn’t a points system just a competition?

There’s no leaderboard and no winner. Points add up to one goal for the whole house, and the Monday recap shows how the house did together. You see your own share, and with Premium how it compares to the split you agreed on.

My partner won’t use another app.

They don’t have to like apps. They get a reminder when it’s their turn and tick the chore off. That’s the whole job.

Who can see our chores?

Only the people in your household. We don’t sell your data. The privacy policy has the details.

Who makes Spongi?

Jesse de Jonge, in the Netherlands. Spongi is small and independent. If something doesn’t work for your household, email support@spongi.app and you’ll hear back from the person who built it.
